EastEnders boss promises ‘really big plans’ for Stacey Fowler

Looks like 2018 will be a big year for her

| Updated:

EastEnders’ Stacey Fowler (nee Branning, nee Slater) has always been one of our all time favourite characters so we’re pretty pleased to hear that boss, John Yorke, has some big plans for her.

Stace (Lacey Turner) has fallen into a bit of a rut recently, but things are going to get shaken up for her, starting with an ill-advised romp TONIGHT with her ex-lover, Max Branning.

Poor Martin.

Speaking at a recent press event, John said that he has some big plans up his sleeve for Stacey as we head into 2018.

He said: “We have big stories for Sharon, The Taylors and of course for Stacey.”

Confirming that Jessie Wallace, Gillian Harvey and Laila Morse would be returning as Slater matriarchs, Kat, Jean and Big Mo, he added: “I’m delighted to confirm that Kat took swimming lessons as a child and survived the dramatic storm of Redwater and returns arm in arm with Big Mo and Jean Slater and another yet to be revealed Slater, reuniting to sort Stacey out once and for all.”

John also revealed that while the Max and Stacey reunion would take centre stage over the Christmas episodes, it would then take a back seat again for a while.

He said: “I think it would be hard to put those embers out altogether but I think it will probably take a back seat for a while.

“I think it’s always there but it will take a back seat for a bit as we have some really big plans for Stacey elsewhere with the rest of her family coming back as well so it’s all going to kick off.”

EE fans have had mixed reactions to Stacey and Max getting closer recently. She’s the only one on the Square who has really supported him and even invited him to stay with her on Friday night’s episode.

After finding him trying to break into Phil Mitchell’s house, she took him back to hers and cleaned up the wound on his head which he’d got whilst trying to strangle Ian Beale with some fairy lights.

Most fans loved the tender scenes between the pair – including a moment where they were this close to kissing – but others think Stacey would be mad to go back there again.

John teased this week: “I came up with a tagline to guide us through the episodes.

“It was pretty cheesy, but as Mick and Linda were about to renew their wedding vows, I came up with this line: ‘Someone old, someone new, someone’s dead and someone’s blue’.”
