Eamonn Holmes’ bizarre outburst about ‘rival’ presenter

Viewers were surprised by his apparent ‘beef’

| Updated:

Now we all know that Eamonn Holmes can be a bit of a grump sometimes, but that’s why we like him, right?

But yesterday, the sarky TV host left viewers scratching their heads as they tried to work out what beef he had with James Corden.

During Rylan Clark-Neal’s showbiz gossip segment, the former X Factor star was telling Eamonn and Ruth about the upcoming new series of Top Of The Pops.

He explained that Radio 1 DJ Greg James would be presenting it and that it would be produced by Fulwell73, the production company that is part owned by funnyman James Corden.

Before Rylan could reveal any more details about the show, Eamonn snapped “Why do I care… about James Corden? Top of The Pops, is great. Why does everyone have to mention James Corden?”

When Rylan joked that he was just reading what was written on his cards, Eamonn carried on regardless: “So Greg James will be great doing this and Corden does bits in the car when you sing in the car…”

The tone of Eamonn’s comment didn’t go unnoticed by viewers.

One raged: “Why is Eamon Holmes roasting James Corden? James is more successful than he will ever be!”

Another said: “Eamonn, what is your problem today with James Corden?”

So why the beef?

We approached Eamonn’s This Morning team to find out what the problem was, but they proved to be rather elusive.

But after doing a bit of research we reckon we have may have found out the reason.

A couple of years ago James Corden was named the most attractive plus-size celebrity in a poll.

James – who has dropped six stone since moving to the US –  came top of a poll of 2000 people asked who they felt was the sexiest big star.

In the poll Eamonn came fifth behind a slew of Americans and Ricky Gervais but ahead of Rob Kardashian and Peter Kay.

Could this be the reason for his beef?

Or is there something else?

Are the angry Tweeters right that Eamonn could be a tad jealous that James’ career has really taken off in America?

Or did he just get out of the wrong side of the bed?

Who knows with our Eamonn?

But when we do, we’ll let you know.
