Dumped Dancing on Ice star Frankie Seaman launches scathing attack on ITV show bosses

Frankie Seaman blames coaching changes for falling ratings

| Updated:

Ex Dancing on Ice star Frankie Seaman has blasted show bosses for not ensuring contestants develop their skills as the series progresses.

Frankie, 41, blamed changes made as part of the revamp for the Sunday evening programme’s declining ratings – with reports suggesting the series has lost 3 million viewers after the opening episode peaked at 8.2 million.

And the skater, sacked from the show by email, believes moving Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean from coaching roles to the judging panel is the reason fans are turning off.

“The viewing figures speaks for themselves,” she told The Sun.

She continued: “Some of the production decisions they’ve made haven’t gone in their favour.

“I think we’re definitely missing Chris and Jayne’s choreography.”

Adding Christopher is an “absolute legend within the sport” that could only help improve the celebrity partners’ skills, Frankie suggested viewers can tell his coaching presence has been missed

Frankie also insisted the ITV favourite should have developed into a stronger show after it was recommissioned – even if it wasn’t “broken” in the first place.

And even though she approves of this year’s celebrity line up, Frankie bluntly insisted their progress on the rink has been slower than with celebs in previous series.

Laying blame with the show’s producers, Frankie explained bosses want the pros to handle choreography and coaching themselves.

But she said seeing pros “pulled apart” for their decisions of the rink did not make for enjoyable television.
