Bradley Walsh delighted to start wearing a wig!

He didn't look old enough for his Doctor Who role without it

Bradley Walsh has been forced to wear a wig for the first time in his career – for his role in Doctor Who.

The former Coronation Street actor joins the new series as the Time Lord’s companion Graham O’Brien.

And the make-up department had to create the syrup and fig because he didn’t look old enough for the role with his own barnet.

“I had to wear a wig, because fortunately at this precise moment at my age I’m not too grey. I needed to be much much greyer,” he revealed at the launch of the 11th series in Cardiff.

They couldn’t dye his hair as the 58-year-old was filming The Chase at the same time.

“Rather than colour my hair – because of another job I do – I had to have a wig made,” he added. “I’ve never worn a wig before; I quite liked it! I liked the transformation – it was really good, excellent.

“And I’m now having one made for weekends. But blonde.”

The new series features a female doctor for the very first time, played by Broadchurch star Jodie Whittaker.

“I feel very proud a) to have been asked, and b) to have been assembled alongside Jodie, Tosin [Cole] and Mandip [Gill],” he added.
