Dancing On Ice’s bizarre new criminal connection revealed

From rink to clink!

In what must be today’s weirdest showbiz news, Dancing On Ice stars are set to perform in the shadow of a PRISON.

No, it’s not some new extra cruel twist to the show, but it has been revealed that the new rink is right next to a clink!

The showy snowy ITV talent show is set to return in January after a three-year absence from our screens.

And all of our DOI faves will be back, including hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, plus ice dancing legend Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean.

And no doubt they will all be on their best behaviour, as the site for the new ice rink where the show will be filmed is literally a stones throw from a prison.

Producers have built the ice rink and studios in Hertfordshire, in the shadow of Her Majesty’s Prison The Mount.

The big temporary white structures where the celebs and their partners will be rehearsing and performing can clearly be seen just yards from The Mount – the jail which was the scene of a riot this August.

It’s also just next to Bovington Airfield, which could be handy to fly those famous faces in and out each week.

The celebs taking part in January’s new series include Corrie stars Brooke Vincent and Antony Cotton, Great British Bake Off winner Candice Brown, and Love Island star Kem Cetinay.

Cricketer Monty Panesar was also due to take part, but has had to pull out after injuring himself during rehearsals. He will be replaced by singer Lemar.

Hosts Phillip and Holly have already been sharing their excitement at the show returning with This Morning viewers.

They’ve been sharing secrets and giving exclusive news of who is taking part – including Cheryl Baker, Donna Air, Max Evans, Stephanie Waring and Jake Quickenden.

Phillip said: “I’m often told how much people have missed Dancing on Ice, and with the show so fondly remembered, it’s exciting for us all to now have the chance to breath new life into the show, and of course spending an extra day of the week with Holly is the icing on the cake.”

And Holly agreed, adding: “I’m so excited to be returning to a show that I love so much.

“Working with Jayne and Chris is always such an honour and it’s even more special as it’s the show that Phil and I first worked on together… it’s full of wonderful memories and I can’t wait to make some new ones.”
