Dancing On Ice fans left confused after first contestant is revealed

A big announcement has left fans scratching their heads

The revamped Dancing On Ice returns to screens next year – but already we’re getting a taster of just which celebrities will be competing!

But rather than outright naming said celebs, those sneaky bosses over at ITV have decided they’ll play a guessing game with fans instead.

A rather tantalising picture has been shared to the show’s social media accounts, giving us a glimpse at one famous contestant.

And when we say glimpse, we mean glimpse…

A flash of toned torso is all we got. Not that many fans would object to that, of course, but a full photo would have been nice!

The picture’s caption wasn’t much help either, as all it said was: “Our brand new celebs are getting to grips with the ice.”

Cheers, guys, useful!

It’s led baffled fans to start a guessing game as to just who the torso belongs to – but, with zero clues, it’s a pretty long list of potentials!

“Harry Judd maybe?” asked one fan.

“Looks like swimmer Mark Foster to me,” said another.

“Gary Lineker?” guessed a third.

“Looks like Thom Evans,” said a fourth.

“Judge Rinder?” queried a fifth.

Another fan put on his best Inspector Morse to guess rugby pro Max Evans, reasoning: “100% Max Evans due to the tiny scar/mark on his hip! It’s other pics, Not that I’ve been playing Sherlock Holmes or anything.”

Someone else cheekily joked: “Put your shirt back on, Phillip Schofield!”

Well, given Phillip is busy hosting the show alongside This Morning co-star Holly Willoughby, we can safely assume he is NOT also taking part.

The new-look Dancing On Ice returns to ITV in 2018, four years after being taken off air.

It originally ran from 2006 until 2014 with Holly and Phil hosting the first six series together, and Phil being joined by Christine Lampard for the latter three series.

The new version will feature Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean on the judging panel alongside Diversity’s Ashley Banjo and another, as-yet-confirmed judge.

While the celebrity line-up is being kept firmly under wraps for now, a whole slew of famous faces have been linked to the rink.

Those said to be in the running include Hollyoaks stars Steph Waring, Sarah Jayne Dunn and Anna Passey, Love Island winner Kem Cetinay and England cricketing legend Monty Panesar.

Meanwhile, one star who WON’T be taking part is Great British Bake Off judge Prue Leith.

Sadly for her, she’s been banned from the show by advisers, who worry she’ll fall over and injure herself.

Speaking to The Daily Star on Sunday, she said: “I was asked if I would do Dancing On Ice. I thought it’d be the perfect way to get fit, lose a lot of weight and learn a new skill.

“I was actually quite excited, but my team said, ‘Absolutely not’.

“They told me I was far too old and if I fell over I would break something – and then I thought they were probably right.”

Never mind Prue, we’re sure Bake Off is keeping you busy!
