Countryfile viewers were left sobbing after the bodies of dead baby seals was broadcast by the show.

Heartbroken viewers blasted the BBC countryside show for showing the bodies of baby seals that died in storms Brian and Ophelia earlier this year.

An investigation by the show appeared to suggest that more than 100 of the tagged baby seals had died when the two storms hit the island of Skomer but it was the scenes showing the bodies of some of those seals that viewers couldn’t cope with.

One tweeted: “Thanks #countryfile for all the dead vandalised baby seals. Really in the mood for #SCD now.”
