In tense scenes to air this evening (Friday 3 August), the Connor family are visibly relieved when Eva arrives at the courtroom at the last minute.

They had expected Eva to submit written evidence rather than return in person.

Viewers will witness Johnny give his evidence first, followed by Eva – but what will be the outcome of the inquest into Aidan’s death?

Tearful scenes will show Eva and Kate having an emotional goodbye after the verdict, while Johnny finally gets a chance to apologise for snatching Susie.

However, as Eva prepares to depart, there may be one last twist in the tale before she leaves for good…

Eva had originally slipped away with baby Susie and gone to France to stay with her mother.

Just before she left, she reunited with Adam Barlow who decided to leave behind his whole life and join her in France.

Preparing for her final scenes, actress Catherine Tyldesley posted a message to her 414,000 Twitter and Instagram fans.

Thanking them for their support, she said: “Well this REALLY is it guys… Eva’s final episodes are on this evening.”

She continued: “The most incredible seven years of my life. With the BEST team. THANKYOU universe – grateful every day keep your eyes peeled for #Olga this weekend though… I have a feeling she won’t be leaving quietly …”

Fans wished Cath good luck in return, with one replying: “Loved this story but very emotional! X.”

Another sobbed: “Noooo I’m not ready for Eva to go just yet  can you stay for another 7 years??”

“Show won’t be the same,” said a third. “Miss Aidan too but you brought fun, sass, and silliness to the show. That along with your fab acting. Wishing you all the very best.”

The door has been left open, though… Just saying!
