Fans accuse Coronation Street of rewriting history

Latest reports about Jim McDonald's return aren't going down well with viewers...

| Updated:

If the latest reports are to be believed, then Jim McDonald’s return to Coronation Street this summer is set to be more explosive than we ever imagined.

The Sun has claimed that Jim will be coming back to the cobbles with a daughter – the very one who he shared with Liz and sadly died after being born prematurely back in 1992.

In a new storyline that is set to rock Weatherfield if it is true, the newspaper hinted that there was a mixup at the hospital when Liz and Jim’s daughter Katie was born, and she is apparently alive and well.

But fans aren’t happy about the soap rewriting history, especially about such a sensitive subject…

Actor Charlie Lawson is back on set already filming his return as Jim McDonald, and with the controversy surrounding his comeback, it seems fans will be anticipating his first scenes even more than ever.

The Sun also speculated that Katie has been living in Australia after being adopted by parents who later moved to the other side of the world.

She apparently decided to seek out her real parents once she turned 18, and traced Jim through his military records.

According to The Sun’s source: “They’ve cleverly cast the role of Jim and Liz’s daughter to a beautiful woman in the hope of making her the Street’s new resident fox.

“It will be a turbulent time for the McDonalds over the next few months.”

Coronation Street is yet to comment on the storyline and so perhaps all is not as it seems?

Jim has been in prison for armed robbery for the last seven years, and so could his return with Katie be a red herring?

Perhaps he is lying about who Katie really is? Could this all be a sinister scam to get money? Or is Jim looking for revenge on someone on the Street?

Coronation Street continues on Wednesday 18th July at 7.30pm and 9.30pm on ITV.

Coronation Street usually airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
