Corrie boss reveals details of Carla Connor return

Things may not be as they seem...

| Updated:

It’s no secret that one of Corrie’s most popular characters, Carla Connor, is making a comeback later this year.

And as we reported last month, the former Underworld boss (played by Alison King) is going to be a changed character upon her return.

But wait – it sounds like there could be more to this transformation than meets the eye.

In an interview with Metro.co.uk, Corrie boss Kate Oates hinted that Carla’s unexpected personality change will pave the way for some twists and turns further down the line.

Explained the producer: “The storyline that we’ve got for Carla will show a different side to her and play a very different tone.

“I think people might think that it’s an interesting choice and wonder why Corrie is playing this.

“But I’d say to give it a few weeks and months, because it does lead into something else and will make a lot of sense.”

Kate’s tease is sure to crank anticipation levels up even further than they are already.

Last month, fans got all hot under the collar after the official Corrie Twitter feed uploaded a first pic of the returning Carla.

The pic was captioned with the message: “Look who started filming yesterday! #CarlasBack.”

One viewer swooned: “I’m so happy right now! This has made my day. Ahh.”

Another declared: “The queen of the cobbles returns.”

And a third wrote: “Welcome back, Alison! Can’t wait for Carla’s return to the Street!”

Another person who’s sure to be thrilled about Carla’s comeback is Roy Cropper, her close friend and father figure.

But Kate hinted that their reunion could cause problems with Carla’s biological dad Johnny.

She told Metro.co.uk: “I’m really happy to be revisiting that, and it’s interesting for Johnny because Roy has always been more of a father to Carla, and he’s in a position now where he’s going to have all of his three children in his life for a longer period of time – and I think he’s going to get a bit of dad jealousy!”

We can’t wait to see how it all pans out…
