The news that Carla Connor is returning to Coronation Street has got fans very excited as they eagerly await the appearance of the queen of the cobbles on screen.
And now Corrie boss Kate Oates has teased the reasons behind the iconic character’s return and hinted that there’s going to be a big feud between her and her former friend Michelle Connor.
Huh? What’s that about?
These two have always been tight, with Michelle going to stay with Carla after she suffered her tragic miscarriage at the beginning of the year.
So how has this tension between the pair come about?
We last saw Carla on screen when she left after her disastrous wedding to Nick, where it was revealed she’s slept with Robert Preston and was being blackmailed by Tracy Barlow over it.

She was a broken woman when she left after just one knock too many, but when she returns, it’s the feisty old Carla we will see back.
Speaking to Metro.co.uk at a recent press event, Kate has now revealed: “The Carla that we see is very different to the Carla who left the Street a couple of years ago.
“I really wanted to bring back that feisty side to the character and while it’s right that she and Michelle will have some tension ahead, there’s a different – and quite unexpected – story which initially brings her back at the end of the year.”
Hang on, let’s just go back to that “tension” comment. Once again we ask, why do these friends have tension between them?
Kate added: “Carla and Michelle have been through a lot together but I am really keen to explore the various sides to it.
“They have always been close and have a strong bond so whatever would challenge them as a pair would have to be quite deep.
“What could challenge and break them? I was interested in testing those dynamics and seeing what would happen.
“I wanted to avoid that cycle of self destruction she found herself on and see both Carla and Michelle as two strong Connor women.”

Michelle is now with Robert, the man who broke up Carla’s last marriage – could that have something to do with why the women aren’t too friendly right now?
