Coronation Street’s Mikey North joins reality TV show

He'll be learning a different skill...

Coronation Street star Mikey North is swapping soaps for reality TV, it has been revealed.

The actor, who plays Gary Windass in the ITV serial drama, will be joining a host of other celebrities on E4’s All Star Driving School.

Mikey is currently taking a short break from Weatherfield, after a whirlwind few months filming Pat Phelan’s exit storylines.

But he won’t be relaxing at home, he’ll be learning to drive in the reality series which launched last year.

The first series featured Vicky Pattison, The Vamps bassist Connor Ball and Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt, among others.

Mikey recently told The Sun Online that he had signed up to a mystery reality show and would be taking a break from Coronation Street.

Speaking in May, he said: “I am doing something in June. I won’t say too much in case I’m not allowed to say what I’m doing, but I am doing a bit of reality TV for the first time.

“Which I’m slightly apprehensive about doing.”

The show is due to air in the autumn, and will also feature TOWIE’s James Argent.

After his month off, Mikey will be returning to Corrie for at least another year.

He recently revealed he’s signed another 12-month contract on the soap.

He’s played Gary for 10 years.
