Coronation Street’s brand new set unveiled by Kym Marsh

Corrie just got even bigger!

| Updated:

It’s an exciting day for Corrie fans as the soap unveils a brand new extension to the current set – with a new road called Victoria Street.

The huge new purpose-built set includes a new restaurant, a tattoo parlour, snooker hall, tram station, police station and even a community garden.

Corrie actress Kym Marsh, who is better known to viewers as Michelle Connor, was up bright and early this morning to reveal the new set to Good Morning Britain viewers along with host Richard Arnold.

The actress was very excited to be giving Richard and the Good Morning Britain viewers a private tour – and she even revealed that the tour was so exclusive that a lot of the Corrie cast haven’t actually seen it yet.

First stop on the tour was the new Pakistani street food restaurant called Speed Daal, with Kym joking… “I’ve sampled the food. He’s a very good chef. I think it’s very good value for money!”

Kym then revealed the new restaurant isn’t the only new venue with a funny play on words… the new tattoo parlour is called Tattoo Will Do Nicely. Can you see what they did there?!

The rest of Victoria Street is being kept under wraps for now – but all will be revealed later today to fans.

The new set will appear in scenes on screen in a few months time – and hopefully having their own dedicated sets like a police station means there is lots of action-packed drama to come on the cobbles.

Earlier this year Corrie boss Kate Oates revealed to The Sun: “There will be a couple of new businesses and we’re going to have a little park area.”

“So not everything will happen at the Red Rec. Sometimes we say in the story office that if Maxine hadn’t died where would people go to think – because it is Maxine’s bench where people have their pensive moments. So now they will have somewhere new to have these moments!”

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
