Coronation Street viewers ‘traumatised’ by weird snog

What's with that technique?

| Updated:

Love was in the air in last night’s Corrie and it was enough to put some viewers off their dinner.

Characters Colin Calen and Moira Pollock gave into their lust for one another and snogged in the pub to the dismay of the other characters around them – and viewers at home.

They were freaked out by the passionate kiss where Colin, played by comedian Vic Reeves, vigorously ran his fingers through Moira’s hair as they locked lips.

The kiss came after Colin managed to persuade Moira to tamper with Norris Cole’s blood samples at the doctors’ surgery in his quest to discover if he is his father.

The receptionist was sacked when she was caught out, leading Colin to beg her to go with him to Stoke-On-Trent when he leaves Weatherfield.

“There are three words to describe you, luminous, loyal pre-Raphaelite,” he said as he wooed Moira, played by actress Louiza Patikas.

“Come to Stoke-On-Trent!” he asked her down on one knee before rising to embrace her for a huge smooch.

Fans of the soap said they were traumatised by the “romantic” moment with one tweeting: “‘If you’ve been affected by issues raised in this episode…’ Is there somewhere I can go if I’ve been affected by Colin and Moira’s ludicrous storyline??”

Others said the snog had put them off their dinner, saying they found the pair getting together “weird” as they made such an “odd” couple.

But other fans were delighted by the new romance and begged writers to let the two characters stay so their relationship could be further developed on screen.

However, Vic, whose real name is Jim Moir, was only ever on the soap for a guest stint.

He said he was delighted to appear on Corrie as he’s “a big fan” and it has long been his dream to walk the cobbles.

He signed a three month contract which started at the end of the summer so he will soon be leaving for pastures new, and now could be taking Moira with him.
