Coronation Street stars film Aidan Connor’s funeral

The sad day will air next month

Coronation Street stars have been spotted filming Aidan Connor’s funeral as the tragic character is laid to rest.

Hard-hitting scenes, set too be aired next month, will see Aidan’s friends and family struggle with their emotions as they say their final goodbyes to Aidan, who sadly took his own life earlier this month.

Coronation Street bravely tackled the taboo subject of male suicide as part of actor Shayne Ward’s leaving storyline from the soap, and fans have heaped praise on the show for raising awareness for such a sensitive issue.

As on location filming took place, the Connor family could be seen still struggling in the aftermath of Aidan’s untimely death.

Aidan’s dad Johnny could be seen carrying the coffin into the church along with Robert Preston.

The sad day is bound to hit the Connors hard as they all try to make sense of why Aidan took his own life.

Catherine Tyldesley was also spotted on location as her character Eva Price faces the fact she has lost the father of her baby, who she had secretly hoped she might reunite with one day.

Eva and Toyah are still hiding the fact little baby Susie is actually Aidan’s daughter, leaving the Connors completely in the dark that she is their own flesh and blood.

Also seen filming at the church was Samia Longchambon (Maria Connor), Georgia Taylor (Toyah Battersby), and Bhavna Limbachia (Rana Nazir), who were all dressed in black to pay their respects.

These funeral scenes are set to air in June on ITV.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
