Coronation Street star Mikey North reveals Phelan’s downfall is months away

This is only the beginning of the end for the super villain

Corrie star Mikey North, who plays Gary Windass, has revealed that evil Pat Phelan won’t get his comeuppance for MONTHS yet!

Mikey appeared on today’s This Morning, to chat with Holly and Phil about Gary’s efforts to bring down his nemesis.

He revealed that Gary and Nicola’s plan will pay off – but not for a “couple of months” yet.

AARGH!

“Gary and Nicola have concocted a plan to infiltrate his life,” Mikey said.

“Gary is determined that he is going to find out what he’s hiding. We’re going to see this play out over the next couple of months.”

And he added: “I’m not sure if it’s set in stone yet, how Phelan’s demise will happen, but I know I’m allowed to say that this is the beginning of the end for him.”

Mikey brushed off criticism that the storyline has gone on for too long.

He said: “Viewing figures are up. So if people are switching off, then even more are switching on.”

Holly pointed out that poor Gary’s had a rough time of it recently when it comes to getting into scrapes.

And Mikey teased that his beating at the hands of the bouncers at Bethany’s lapdancing club wasn’t nearly as bad as something that’s coming up.

Holly and Phil showed viewers a photo of Mikey in preparation for some pretty extensive make-up effects. His face had to be covered in plaster to make a mould for the make-up artists to work with.

Mikey said he had to stay completely still while the cast was setting – which proved tricky.

“Simon Gregson (aka Steve McDonald) came in with some clippers and was vibrating them on bits of me that he shouldn’t have been,” Mikey joked. “He was trying to make me move my face.”

We’re just hoping all this will be worth it when we – finally – get to see Phelan’s downfall!

Coronation Street continues tonight at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV
