With Carla Connor’s kidney failure already taking its toll on the bolshy brunette, her brother Aidan and sister Kate volunteer to be tested to see if they are a match.
As the Connors wait anxiously for the results to come back, Carla decides to distract herself in the best way she knows:
First she gets together with young lover Daniel Osbourne for some afternoon delight, and then she hits the Bistro where she gets drunk on one glass of wine.
Dad Johnny is delighted to see his daughter having fun, but that’s because Carla’s not yet told him the truth about her illness.
But there is some hope in sight when both Kate and Aidan discover they’re a match. Either one of them could help Carla. Phew! Aidan insists that he should be the one to donate.
Later, Carla and Daniel are enjoying some more special time together when they’re interrupted by Ken. Awks!

With the plans on hold, they head to the Rovers for a drink, but there’s drama when Carla collapses!
Peter is convinced his ex-wife is drunk, but a horrified Roy reveals the truth. He tells everyone that Carla’s seriously ill.
Now the secret’s out, the Connor family gather round Carla’s hospital bed. Johnny’s shocked to find out what’s going on, but grateful to Aidan for volunteering to donate his kidney.
As the need for Carla to have her transplant op as soon as possible increases, Aidan starts having more tests in preparation for his donation.
