This is going to have huge ramifications

There’s trouble for Summer Spellman in Coronation Street next week when she’s found unconscious and rushed to hospital. Billy Mayhew is left fuming when he discovers Simon Barlow had a part to play in it.

Summer’s feeling emotional as it would have been dad Drew’s birthday. She’s grieving and desperate to fit in with the rest of the Corrie kids, so she pockets what looks like a joint that Simon found in the school changing rooms.

Later, Si encourage her to smoke it so, wanting to impress him, she does. She’s found later slumped in the ginnel and rushed to hospital in an ambulance.

Peter and Toyah quiz Simon about what happened and he eventually confesses, but admits he didn’t know what would happen.

But when Peter tries to fill Billy in, Billy doesn’t see it as a childish prank. In fact, he sees red and points out that Summer could have died from Simon’s actions.

Billy totally loses his cool, launches himself at Peter and punches him. Ooh, Billy, we didn’t know you had it in you.

The vicar instantly regrets his actions and heads over to the Rovers to apologise to Peter.

But Peter is thinking about reporting the assault to the police (er, Pete, since when have you been a grass, mate?) and this could lead to problems with Billy and Todd’s plans to adopt Summer.

Will Billy be able to talk Peter into dropping the matter?

Just promise you’ll have a word with the man upstairs, Bill. With the amount of sins Peter’s chalked up in his time, he’ll probably be grateful.

This won’t be the only glimpse we get of Billy’s darker side. Corrie’s executive producer, Kate Oates, has teased a big story coming up that will explore his dark past.

A recent report in The Sun said Billy will confess to killing Susan Barlow, Adam’s mum, back in 2001. Whaaaaat?

A source told the paper: “Billy is one of the nicest men on the Street, and fans see him as a mild-mannered voice of reason in amongst all the chaos.

“But in the coming weeks, fans will discover there is much more to Billy than previously thought – and he’s been harbouring a dark secret.

“For 16 years he’s been wracked with guilt by knowing that he killed Susan, and finally things come to a head as he reveals to Todd he caused the accident when she died.

“It’s heartbreaking for him, and he tells how he now has to suffer the agony of living alongside the family he caused so much pain to all those years ago.”

Well, well, well.
