Next week doesn’t get off to a great start for poor Ches. First of all he collapses at work and is rushed to hospital, while his fiancee Sinead is hanging out with her ex, Daniel Osbourne, who she still has a spark with.

He’s still recovering when Izzy Armstrong gets a devastating call from dad, Owen in Portugal – but what does he tell her?

When Chesney hears the news, he jumps out of bed – very much against advice from his doctors – and gets straight on a plane to deal with the situation abroad.

But what could it be?

Chesney will be seen bringing Joseph back to the cobbles, which makes us think that maybe Katy has died in Portugal.

Ches and Katy became parents to Joseph back in 2011. Katy left Coronation Street for a life in the sun with her dad in 2015 and took little Joseph with her.

Sinead is impressed when she sees how Ches reacts to the shocking news and any thoughts she may have had about reigniting things with Daniel are forgotten.

But, we do know that she’ll start wondering how over him she is when the two of them spend time with Joseph, without Chesney around.

It’s looking like Sinead could break his heart all over again.

Katie McGlynn, who plays the out-of-work knicker stitcher, said about her character’s upcoming love dilemma: “There is always going to be a spark between them [her and Daniel] because of the way that they split up; it was very abrupt because of what he did to his dad.

“She still loves him and he still loves her.”

She went on to say that Sinead is feeling stifled by Chesney, but how he handles the Portugal situation makes her see him in a new light.

Katie added: “She feels very guilty and really worried. Instantly she feels like she needs to get to him to make sure he is alright. She takes Chesney very seriously but she is feeling a lot of pressure as well.

She has felt trapped with him but as soon as she gets the phone call she thinks she needs to get her head out of the sand and look after him.”

But will things change when she finds herself playing mummy to Joseph?
