The ITV soap's boss Kate Oates has spilled all on their eagerly anticipated return

| Updated:

She’s been away since May 2016 so it’s about time she made her return.

The sassy soap star Carla Connor, played by Alison King, is returning to the cobbles this Christmas, Radio Times has revealed.

Boss Kate Oates has revealed all the juicy gossip about Carla’s storyline and you guessed it, it’s set to be full of drama!

Speaking in the new issue, Kate said: “Ever since I got here, it’s been rumoured that Carla’s coming back. But it was never true. Even the latest indications of it. Ali has only just signed her contract and she’ll be back around Christmas.

“It’s time to break new ground with Carla. I didn’t want to put her on that familiar cycle of self-destruction, recovery, followed by more self-destruction.

“What we’ll have instead are these two strong Connor women – Carla and Michelle – on opposing sides and in conflict for a change. It’ll be a refreshing dynamic for us to see.”

We’re not excited at all!

It’s been a long, long team since she was last on our screen.

She left town when her wedding to Nick Tilsley was ruined, but she needed some time off work.

It was Alison’s daughter Daisy that made her choose to leave.

Talking to RadioTimes.com at the time about her reasons for exiting, Alison King said that she wanted to spend more time with her daughter Daisy:

“All Daisy has ever known is me getting out of the house at 7.30 in the morning and getting back when she’s in bed,” she told RadioTimes.com at the time.

“I’ve probably only ever done about 20 pick-ups or drop-offs in all the time she’s been at school, which is quite sad.”

Christmas can’t come quick enough!
