Coronation Street SPOILER: David Platt’s rapist to reveal dark past

He arrived in Weatherfield last night

Josh Tucker arrived in Coronation Street last night amid reports he is the character set to rape David Platt in a controversial storyline later this year.

Josh impressed Tyrone Dobbs as he gave him an impromptu interview in the yard of the Rovers.

But while Tyrone was dazzled by Josh’s glittering CV, to the point where he suggested he should be applying for Take Me Out rather than a job at his garage, actor Ryan Clayton who plays Josh has suggested his character might not be telling the truth.

Speaking to OK Online Ryan said: “He is someone who has a lot of skeletons.

There’s a few things hiding that we don’t know about and they aren’t all they seem.”

The actor went on to say that Josh wouldn’t be above manipulating people to get them onside.

He added: “He knows how to get people on his side and he can gage that. He can see that.

“I think he is someone who could interact with anyone regardless of their background and where they come from.

“He is that type of person. He could just see that and understand how they work so yeah there is that possible side to him.”

Coronation Street faced a backlash from fans when it announced in December that David Platt would be at the centre of a male rape story this year.

Long terms fans even said they would boycott the ITV soap if it went ahead with the plot.

Other fans have praised the show for tackling such a dark and taboo issue.

Earlier today ITV bosses were forced to respond to reports that Corrie’s Exec Producer, Kate Oates, was in danger of losing her job.

A report in The Sun cited a ‘source’ who claimed it was a case of when, not if Kate was axed.

In a statement ITV Studios’ Creative Director John Whiston said: “In the last two years Kate Oates has transformed Coronation Street in the same way as she transformed Emmerdale when she was there.

“The show is now chock full of gripping, talked about storylines, is tackling groundbreaking social issues and, most importantly for a commercial channel such as ITV is delivering strong ratings, Coronation’s audience share is up year on year, an impressive feat for a 57 year old soap on our screens six times a week.”

Coronation Street continues Monday at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV
