Coronation Street Lothario hints at a return to the soap

We might have to wait a while though

Coronation Street fans rejoice – Keith Duffy aka Ciaran McCarthy has admitted he’d love to return to the soap in 2019.

The Boyzone singer played the Lothario on and off between 2002 and 2011, but was last seen heading for a cruise ship in the Caribbean.

Keith has since been busy with Boyzone and also going on tour with Brian McFadden.

The pair appeared on Lorraine on Tuesday to chat about their plans and that’s when Keith admitted to the host that he would love to go back to Corrie – it just might take a couple of years to find a break in his schedule.

“What about you ever going back to Corrie?” Lorraine asked him.

“Absolutely, why not?” he replied.

“Myself and Brian are flat out for the rest of the year and then next year is a big year for Boyzone, so maybe in 2019 you might get Ciaran McCarthy back from the Caribbean and walking back down the cobbles again.”

And then an even bigger carrot was dangled as Brian piped up that he could join him for a cameo, saying:

“And his little cousin Jimmy!”

Now that we’d love to see.

The last time we saw Ciaran on the Street he was in a relationship with Michelle Connor. They were going to get married, but when he gambled away their wedding venue deposit and failed to get it back, they called their nuptials off.

But Michelle agreed to give him another chance and was all set to leave to go on a cruise ship together when ‘Chelle changed her mind and decided that life wasn’t for her.

She stayed on the Cobbles while Ciaran sailed off into the sunset.

Michelle’s suffered quite a lot in the last year, losing her baby with Steve McDonald only to find out he’s also fathered Leanne Battersby’s child, Michelle then left Steve and ended up in a relationship with Robert Preston, who’s currently in prison.

And she’s recently been stalked by her ex-boyfriend Will.

Maybe the return of the cheeky Irish chappy is exactly what she needs to inject some fun and happiness into her life?
