Coronation Street fans left ‘heartbroken’ for David Platt as he attempts to self harm

Viewers took to Twitter to praise actor Jack P Shepherd

Coronation Street fans were left in tears after last night’s harrowing trip to the cobbles showed David Platt reach new levels of despair after being sexually abused by Josh Tucker last month.

After being at the receiving end of Josh’s evil mind games once again, David couldn’t take any more and tried to self harm.

Viewers rushed to social media to share how brilliantly they think actor Jack P Shepherd is portraying David’s anguish, and said that the scenes at the end where he tried to hurt himself left them ‘heartbroken’.

Earlier in the Friday night double bill, David saw dangerous predator Josh befriending an oblivious Chesney Brown and inviting him back to his flat.

Terrified that he might do the same thing to Chesney that he did to him, David doesn’t know what to do when his own terror at speaking out stoped him from warning Chesney that he could be putting himself in danger.

After being tormented by Josh once again after David told him he was going to go to the police, David hit rock bottom and went into the salon, where he found some hairdressing scissors and tried to cut his wrists.

Although thankfully he didn’t go through with it, the scenes were deeply moving, with one fan saying they hadn’t seen David that utterly heartbroken since Kylie died…

Fans also thought the scenes were some of the best they’d ever seen from Jack P Shepherd…

Things are set to get even worse for David next week when the day of the charity boxing match arrives on Monday 9th April and he lashes out in the ring – landing Gary Windass in hospital.
