Corrie fans were left shell-shocked following last night’s visit to the cobbles which saw uber-villain Pat Phelan shed a tear.

Yes, water really did leak from his evil eyes as he washed his hands of daughter Nicola and her unborn baby.
Pat discovered that Nic was secretly plotting against him with his enemies, Gary Windass and Seb Franklin.
She’d come back into his life after deciding she was the only one who could bring him down because the evil builder trusted her and would never harm her.
But Phelan discovered the truth after spotting Seb’s parka at Nic’s flat last week.
His suspicions were confirmed when he stole his daughter’s keys and let himself into her home this week.
Fans watched in horror as a menacing Phelan starred at Seb, who was listening to music on headphones, totally oblivious to the villain’s presence.
Nicola ended up in hospital last night after collapsing while trying to convince Sarah Platt to give Gary a second chance, despite him getting her pregnant after a one night stand.
It turned out her appendix had ruptured and Phelan visited her in hospital to confront her.
He told her that he never wanted to see her again and that she’d better look after the baby as he wouldn’t be around to help.
But as the words left his lips, a tear ran down his face, leaving fans gobsmacked.
They took to Twitter to discuss the discovery that Corrie’s super villain actually had human emotions.
“Wow Pat’s crying!” tweeted one amazed fan, while another said: “Errrrhm, Phelan-crying? Right, that’s it, I am convinced he’s innocent. We’ve all been wrong all this time. Sorry Patrick.”
Another commented: “My god. Phelan shedding tears!!!!”
And fourth wrote: “Pat Phelan crying has actually wounded me wtf.”
So now he’s rumbled Nic, Gary and Seb’s plan to take him down, who’s left to uncover his dastardly wrong doings?
It’s been reported that it’s actually Pat’s wife, Eileen, who eventually makes sure the murderous builder gets his just desserts.

They were recently spotted filming scenes on the coast and tabloid reports suggested Eileen could push him over a cliff, leaving him ‘lost at sea.’
