Coronation Street fans ‘feel awful’ as David comes face-to-face with his rapist

Viewers are already finding scenes 'uncomfortable'

Coronation Street fans were on the edge of their seats last night as David Platt came face-to-face with his rapist, Josh Tucker.

Viewers took to social media to share their horror at Josh befriending David in The Rovers – knowing that their friendship is set to take a very sinister turn.

The mechanic, who is played by Coronation Street newcomer, Ryan Clayton, arrived in the show on Friday – securing himself a job in the garage as Luke Britton’s replacement.

Fans have seen Josh quickly get his feet well under the table with his new neighbours by organising a charity boxing match in memory of murdered Luke.

But as we all know, Josh isn’t the man he makes out to be and will soon be hiding a sinister secret.

Coronation Street have confirmed that they are tackling the hard-hitting storyline of male rape for the first time in the show – and David will find himself victim of the crime when Josh drugs and assaults him after a night out.

Fans shared their concern for the popular character on Twitter last night, with viewers already calling these early scenes ‘uncomfortable’, and that they ‘feel awful’ watching this storyline unravel.

One fan even claimed they weren’t sure if they could continue watching Corrie while this storylines plays out…

Viewers will be spared any explicit scenes and instead the story will show David wake up in Josh’s bed and realise the horror of what happened to him.

It looks like Corrie fans are going to need to brace themselves.

Coronation Street continues tomorrow night on ITV at 7.30 and 8.30pm.
