Controversial new survival series Eden branded “pointless” and “pathetic”

Eden doesn't feel like paradise for viewers!

Viewers have branded survival series Eden “pointless” and its contestants “pathetic” after some were seen walking out of the camp.

The Channel 4 programme launched in 2016, showing 23 people dispatched to a remote stretch of fenced off shoreline in the Scottish Highlands to fend for themselves for a year.

A follow up show – entitled Paradise Lost – is now revealing how the social experiment turned out, with reports suggesting the camp descended into chaos and that only around 10 people lasted until the end.

In Monday night’s instalment, a group of campers were seen walking out after struggling to cope with the harsh conditions.

Although they returned, viewers were unimpressed, saying it went against the show’s purpose.

“The social experiment just got broken therefore the rest of the #Eden show is pointless,” said one person on Twitter, while another said it “kinda ruins the experiment”.

One grumbled: “Expected to see survival against the odds, in reality a bunch of twats walking out, presumably pigging out, chatting on mobile.”

“#Eden Is it me or are these ppl a bunch of middle class wasters looking for celebrity status,” asked one viewer, while another called those taking part “a shower of idiots”.

Some people joked that the show’s bosses should have released some wolves or crocodiles into the camp to wake things up.

“Just to liven things up a bit, the producers should release a few hungry wolves into #Eden after nightfall,” quipped one.

“This is dull,” said another fed up viewer. “They should have also released a dozen tigers into the area and filled the water with crocodiles.”

:: Eden: Paradise Lost continues at 10pm on Channel 4 on Tuesday.
