Bored EastEnders fans mocked MASHED POTATOES scene in tonight’s snorefest

The highlight of an eventful but meh episode

The cat came out of the bag in tonight’s EastEnders when Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) finally told her husband, Mick (Danny Dyer) that she’d secretly battled cancer and had kept it from him.

The revelation came after Mick started putting pressure on L about getting a GP appointment as she’d been complaining of pain and spending a lot of time in the loo.

While Linda tried to shrug it off as indigestion, Mick told her that he knew something was up, even wondering if she could be pregnant at one point.

“Have you missed a period?” the concerned landlord asked his wife.

“No! It’s not that,” Linda replied.

“How do you know?” wondered Mick.

She knows because she’s had treatment for cervical cancer this year, but didn’t get round to telling her husband, instead keeping up the pretence that she’s been looking after her poorly mum in Watford.

During last night’s episode, Linda began wincing in pain, and Woody Woodward (Lee Ryan) soon noticed that she wasn’t her usual self.

Woody knows about Linda’s cancer as he was working at her mum’s pub while she was having treatment.

Woody has urged her to tell Mick, but Linda has been convinced that too much time has passed and she can’t tell him now without opening a can of worms about honesty and trust.

The couple have only just got their marriage back on track after Mick admitted to having feelings for their former daughter-in-law, Whitney.

Linda told Woody last night: “I’m tired of having difficult conversations with him.”

Nonetheless, she geared up for another one tonight as she pleaded with him not to be mad when she told him.

How will Mick react when he discovers that not only has L been keeping something so huge from him, half the square already knows?

Elsewhere, we finally learned why Ted Murray is suffering from some kind of post traumatic stress. He revealed to Patrick Trueman that he’d been unable to save a friend of his during the Suez Crisis of 1956, when he was in the army.

He also admitted that as revenge, he shot a young Arab man and has never gotten over it. It explains why he acted so irrationally during the Walford Gas Explosion of 2017, which resulted in Johnny Carter being shot.

Somehow, this led to a joyful Ted day drinking and deciding he and Joyce were going to skip their criminal charges and head of to see their son in Australia.

Erm…correct us if we’re wrong but wouldn’t the old folks have had to have given their passports to the police?

Meanwhile, Stacey and Martin were reunited with Lily and baby Arthur after a doctor decided Arthur’s bruises were accidental. This prompted Carmel to reveal to Kush that she’d once stood by while his dad battered him and that’s why she called Social Services on Stacey.

Finally, Jane – who is still in a coma following all the dramz of explosion week – twitched her hand, prompting Max Branning to materialise in the hospital corridor, as if he’d been waiting there the whole time…

SO much going on – and you know what Twitter was most interested in? A scene where Ted and Joyce were eating – mashed potatoes.

They ridiculed the tedium of it all…
