BGT star could miss more auditions because of ‘nasty’ illness

Will he be returning any time soon?

Earlier this week, Stephen Mulhern revealed he would be missing Britain’s Got talent auditions for the first time in 11 years after falling ill.

The presenter, 40, said he was on doctor’s “strict” orders and put on bed rest due to a “nasty bout of Laryngitis.”

Now Stephen has given his fans an update on his illness and said he hopes he will be back for auditions soon.

“Thank you so much for all your get well messages,” he tweeted on Jan. 20. “Am still trying to get better and fingers crossed will see lots of you at the BGMT auditions in London a week today.

“Have a good evening all.”

Fans rushed to write back to Stephen with many hoping he will make a speedy recovery in time.

One person said: “Oh no thought you would have been on the mend by now, take care,” while another added: “I am still praying for your full recovery!!”

Stephen has been part of the show since way back in 2007, and is as much a part of the furniture as regular hosts Ant and Dec.

Last week, the presenter told fans that he was “gutted” to be missing auditions in Blackpool.

He wrote on Twitter: “Morning! Absolutely gutted to be missing the first round of @BGT auditions this week in Blackpool!”

“I am on doctor’s strict orders to rest my voice, after suffering a nasty bout of Laryngitis,” he added before revealing this was his first day off from the show in 11 years!

“I will be on mute until London auditions on the 27th Jan, look forward to seeing you all then,” Stephen added.

Fans can look forward to seeing a variety of wannabe singers, entertainers and adorable dancing dogs performing later this year.

The judging panel will be staying the same, with Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams taking their seats behind the buzzers.
