As Dancing On Ice comeback is confirmed, fans demand another Sunday night fave returns too

It'd be like 2006 all over again

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield made a return to This Morning today, and revealed that’s not the only thing they’re coming back to: Dancing On Ice is officially returning to our screens.

But as fans celebrated the news on Twitter, they also demanded another Sunday night show returns to complete the line up.

When Dancing On Ice was screened before drama Wild at Heart was sandwiched between the main show and the results show.

The heartwarming drama starred Stephen Tompkinson as a vet in South Africa. Lucy-Jo Hudson played his daughter, and Amanda Holden played his wife in the first three series, before she was killed off and Dawn Steele came into the show until it ended in 2012.

But now viewers are desperate for that show to make a comeback too.

Expressing their desire for Sundays to go back to how they used to be, Twitter fans said they’re ‘praying’ for it to return.

With Dancing On Ice’s big comeback announced, the channel may need a big hitter to go alongside it.

Holly and Phil will be taking on presenting duties again and Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean are returning, but this time as judges.

The rumours of the show’s reboot have been circulating for weeks, but it’s only now that it’s been made official.

Presenting the segment from a cold looking ice rink outside the This Morning studios, with Rylan Clark-Neal skating round in the background, Holly and Phil confirmed the original line up would be reunited.

Holly presented the skating series with Phil from its beginning in 2006 until Christine Lampard took over in 2012. But the This Morning duo are back on hosting duties.

There’s going to be a brand new studio set and a whole host of new professional skaters.

Phillip said: “There are some big changes, all for the very exciting better. It’s now in a brand new home.”

Jayne and Chris, who normally train the celebrities and choreograph the routines are switching roles however, and are moving onto the judging panel and will be alongside two additional judges who have yet to be announced.

Chris revealed: “The professionals and the celebrities are going to do their own choreography.”

Holly replied that that felt a little bit frightening as Chris and Jayne would have no control over it at all.

But Jayne told how exciting it was as there were new professional skaters and it would have a fresh feel.

With Rylan skating in at that point, aided by a plastic penguin, Phil asked the showbiz correspondent if he’d been approached for the show.

Rylan replied: “Of course I haven’t!” hmm, we’re not so sure, he certainly seemed to have some skating skills…

Rumoured celebrities taking part include Katie Price, Michelle Heaton, and Antony Cotton.

The show will return in 2018.

After This Morning aired, Phil posted a picture to his Instagram double confirming the news.
