Alexandra Burke breaks silence after losing out in Strictly Come Dancing finale

It was a spectacular finale on Saturday night

Alexandra Burke has shared her thoughts after losing out on Strictly’s coveted Glitterball Trophy at the weekend.

The former X Factor winner put on three absolutely dazzling performances during Saturday night’s live finale but ultimately lost out to Holby City’s Joe McFadden, who picked up the gong.

However, taking to Twitter last night, the popstar had nothing but positive things to say both about Joe’s win and her Strictly experience in general.

Alexandra, who didn’t have the easiest Strictly journey, wrote: “I can’t believe it’s all over! Thank you all for your kind and supportive messages.

“It has been a dream being apart of this year’s Strictly! I wish I could rewind time and do it all again!”

The Broken Heels singer found herself facing criticism throughout the competition, with some viewers accusing her of ‘faking’ her reactions to getting through each week.

She’s always insisted her reactions are genuine.

Turning her attention to pro partner Gorka Marquez, she added: “So much love for you @gorkamarquez1 Thank you for everything x.”

Alexandra, 29, then gave a shout out to the new 2017 Strictly champion Joe and his partner Katya Jones, saying: “Congratulations to you both! How awesome was this final! So happy for you both!!”

Joe replied: “Thanks Alex! Best time ever. Was an honour to share the Strictly dancefloor with you.”

Meanwhile, professional dancer Gorka took to his own social media accounts to lavish Alexandra with praise.

He told her: “PROUD OF YOU!!! @alexandramusic you were amazing… I loved each of our dances and had the best time on that floor!!! Thank you.”

Alexandra and Gorka had faced off against Joe and Katya, Gemma Atkinson and Aljaz Skorjanec, and Debbie McGee and Giovanni Pernice in the Strictly 2017 finale.

While Joe and Katya were crowned winners, it has not been confirmed the order the rest of the finalists finished.

Alex isn’t the only finalist who has been speaking out about the experience.

Former soap star Gemma said yesterday: “WOW! what an incredible night we had. Huge congratulations to Joe & Katya! They were Amazing.

“I’m so grateful I got to be a part of Strictly 2017. It’s flown by but we’ve had so many fun times. Aljaz, you have been so patient and so kind and so funny every single day and I cannot thank you enough for keeping my chin up and supporting me through this, not just as my colleague, but as my friend.

“Fun memories that will last a life time. I can’t wait to have Christmas at home with all my family & friends and rest up before the tour.

“Thank you to everyone who supported us! And remember… Put your hands up it’s more fun!!!!!”

Debbie, meanwhile, has yet to say anything, but pro partner Giovanni thanked fans on their behalf.

He tweeted yesterday: “The end of the most beautiful experience !! Thank u guys for the lovely messages and support every week !!  and you @thedebbiemcgee .. you are THE STAR and the winner in my eyes… !! until next time KEEEEEEEEEP DANGING.”

Elsewhere, winners Joe and Katya shared their elation.

Joe tweeted: “WE lifted it! No way I could have done it without [Katya]. You’re an amazing woman and thanks for teaching me so well. Love you lots.”
