Neighbours

Neighbours is an Australian soap that has been loved by the nation since it was first aired in the United Kingdom back in 1986. It was screened on BBC One until 2008, after which it moved to its new home on Channel 5, where it’s still shown twice a day.

Most Neighbours fans have grown up watching the show, famous for its after school teatime slot. In fact the soap has proved to be so popular over here that it’s actually watched by more fans in the UK than in Australia itself.

Based in the fictional cul-de-sac of Ramsay Street, Neighbours follows the lives of families who live and work in Erinsborough, a made up suburb of Melbourne, Australia. Places such as Harold’s Cafe, Lassiters Hotel and The Waterhole are where lots of the drama unfolds, with original families such as the Robinsons still taking centre stage, led by their patriarch, Paul.

Neighbours is famous for launching countless celebrity careers, with the likes of Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, Russell Crowe and Margot Robbie being just some of the famous faces who kicked-started their time in the limelight on Ramsay Street.

Neighbours airs weekdays at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5
