Former Hollyoaks star Emmett J Scanlan has landed his biggest role yet, and he’s had a dramatic image overhaul for the part.
Emmett, who played unhinged villain Brendan Brady in the C4 soap, has landed the iconic comic book role of bounty hunter Lobo in Superman prequel Krypton.

Confirming the news on social media, Emmett announced: “It’s a fragging honour to join KRYPTON, it’s a mother fragging honour to be invited back into the DC COMIC world.
“But to take on the greatest bounty Hunter of any galaxy, LOBO?? That [bleep] ain’t just an honour, it’s a mission. And it fits like a hand to a fragging glove.”
He’d recently teased: “New gig. New character. Different level.”

Fans were quick to congratulate the 39-year-old actor, with one gushing: “Omg I can’t wait to see this congrats scan always knew you’d reach this level of achievement you’ve worked so hard to get this far such a proud fan x.”
Another said: “You look awesome. I might have to start watching krypton now.”
Comic book fans will know that Lobo is a DC character – an alien born on the utopian planet of Czarnia who works as an interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter.
The forthcoming Superman prequel TV series, Krypton, is set two generations before Superman’s home planet is destroyed.
Emmett, who is married to former Hollyoaks co-star Claire Cooper, also stars in ITV’s new drama Butterfly opposite Anna Friel.
Since leaving Hollyoaks, he’s appeared in The Fall opposite Jamie Dornan, and BBC hit Safe opposite Christopher Eccleston.
He left the C4 soap in 2013 after his reign of terror came to an end, when he was finally caught and thrown in prison.
