Emmerdale viewers threaten to boycott soap over Lachlan story

They're not happy with the soap's writers

Emmerdale fans have been up in arms over the latest twist in Lachlan White’s killing spree, with some threatening to stop watching the soap until the storyline is over.

In fact, the storyline has grated on people so much that even our own Entertainment Daily! readers have spoken about how much they’re looking forward to Lachlan getting his comeuppance.

Readers have revealed that they think the storyline is going on for far too long…

Marisa said: “It’s about time Lachlan got caught.”

With Maureen agreeing that Rebecca should have finished the killer off when she had the chance last week: “The Lachlan storyline is dragging on for too long. Why didn’t Rebecca pan him a few times to really knock him out.”

Last Thursday viewers watched as Rebecca finally escaped her evil nephew’s clutches and made a run for freedom in the woods.

But just when it looked like she might make it back to the village to tell everyone about her ordeal, Lachlan tracked her down after she knocked herself out following a fall.

He then dragged her back to the cabin where he has been keeping her hostage for weeks, only for her to wake up and find herself back where she started again.

She then pretended to not remember anything that had happened, but her cover was blown when Zak Dingle was heard outside and she tried to call out for help.

Viewers were left frustrated that the storyline has been going around in circles for weeks now…

Caroline said: “How long is this storyline going on for? Getting really bored with it now.”

While Debbie agreed: “It’s getting too much now and it’s about time he was caught. It’s so far fetched and boring now, how many more for him to kill? Sort it out Emmerdale or you’re going to lose a lot of viewers!”

Friday’s episode didn’t feature Rebecca at all, hinting at the fact Lachlan might have finally killed her.

Some fans were even convinced that Rebecca might have come to a gruesome end and has been put in the suitcase that could be seen at the end of the episode.

But fans aren’t happy that things are getting so grizzly…

Sheryl revealed: “I think the storyline is now appalling. Anything torturous should not be shown before the watershed. I won’t be watching until I’m told whatever is going to happen has happened.

“I think he’s stuffed her under the bench and that Monty will find her! Who knows. I love Emmerdale, just not right now.”

And Marie called out for the soap’s writers to make changes…

“Why, oh why, will you not listen script writers? We are sick of Lachlan, this soap is just too far-fetched, it’s ridiculous.

“This does not portray real life, I’ve never known a little village like it!”

So with fans calling for Lachlan’s comeuppance to happen sooner rather than later, could the end be nigh for the killer?

And what about poor Rebecca? Is she in that suitcase like everyone thinks, or was that a red herring and she’s actually alive and well somewhere?

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
