Sam Dingle and Lydia Hart set wedding date amid biopsy results drama

An encounter with a mystery woman leaves Lydia out of sorts

| Updated:

Ten months after getting down on bended knee and proposing to Lydia Hart – having wrongly assumed she was a prostitute not too long beforehand – Sam Dingle urges his fiancee to set a date for their wedding next week.

But before that Lydia experiences quite the shock as she collects her biopsy results from the hospital.

She had been worried about a suspicious mole on her leg before getting it checked out.

And both Lydia and Sam were nervous about the results – especially as Sam’s first wife Alice died back from cancer in 2006.

But it is coming face-to-face with Pat, someone Lydia knows from the past, that really leaves her rattled.

Lydia quickly storms away after bumping into the mystery woman at hospital which leaves Sam even more confused than usual.

While grateful for Sam’s support as she collects her test verdict, Lydia struggles to come clean about Pat’s identity despite his questions about her.

Lydia had initially concealed her doctor’s suggestion to check out the mole because his son Samson had only just learned his father assisted his mother to take her own life.

Angered and confused, the young lad accidentally pushed Lydia down the stairs.

However, it was while she was being given the once over after that incident that her mole was discovered.

Will Lydia’s encounter with Pat spur her on to get on with the ceremony?

Or could her reluctance to explain how they know each other drive a wedge between her and Sam and even lead them to postpone the nuptials?

– Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays
