Emmerdale director’s post hints Rebecca White survives Lachlan’s attack

Has a social media blunder rumbled whether Rebecca was killed or not?

| Updated:

One of Emmerdale’s production team may have let slip that Rebecca White SURVIVED being attacked by her psychopathic nephew Lachlan.

Although many fans reckon Rebecca’s body may have been stuffed into a suitcase after she was held hostage in a remote cabin in the woods, whether the soap character has actually been killed off has been left open-ended.

But the mystery may have been spoiled after TV director George Siougas – who has been credited with directing four upcoming episodes of the ITV soap –  revealed actress Emily Head’s famous dad had paid his daughter a visit at work.

Eagle-eyed social media user @robrondiaries noticed a snap uploaded to George’s Instagram account suggested Emily is still part of the show.

The caption to the pic of George posing alongside Emily and her Buffy the Vampire Slayer star father read: “With the great Anthony Head who paid us a set visit today to see his lovely daughter Emily.”

Before long, the image was taken down from the director’s account and replaced with a cropped image that made no mention of Emily in the new caption.

But @robrondiaries had already screengrabbed the original photo and shared it on Twitter for fans to ponder whether it meant Emily would be a part of production in future episodes.

“You’ve kinda just given away that she’s alive there pal,” @robrondiaries commented.

Replying to @robrondiaries’ posts, another superfan speculated filming takes place up to two months ahead of when episodes are aired on telly.

And another wondered whether Rebecca might appear as part of a dream sequence or flashback, if indeed she was filming for future instalments of the soap.

Interestingly, despite the original pic being removed from George’s Instagram, another almost identical shot featuring Anthony was uploaded in its place.

But the new image – apparently the same pic slightly altered – was cropped to remove Emily, and the new caption contained no reference to her.

So has Rebecca’s destiny been rumbled?

Or could the whole thing be an elaborate wind up to keep viewers guessing?

Even if it is a hoax, it has provided some fascinating fan theories. After all, even if Emily has been on set, there’s no guarantee she has been filming scenes.

Let’s hope we find out the truth about whether Rebecca is alive or not before Lachlan’s killing spree wipes out the entire village.

– Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays
