It never seems to go quite right for Emmerdale’s Bernice Thomas and next week that pattern is set to continue.
The beauty salon owner gets a big shock when one of her clients drops dead in front of her and then Bernice is faced with a moral dilemma.

Whilst treating regular client Mrs Dumphreys, it’s just an ordinary day for Bernice who is (as ever) worried about her love life.
Wanting some action, Bernice chats to Mrs Dumphreys about her severe lack of it and the customer advises her to go for a drink with Daz Spencer.
Hmm, Daz and Bernice, we don’t quite see it somehow, but maybe it could work…
Anyway, during her pampering session, Mrs D gets some good news – she’s had a big win on the horses. Excitement all round then.
But things take a drastic turn when the client becomes unresponsive to Bernice’s conversation. And she hasn’t just gone to sleep because Bernice is so boring – she’s suddenly died.
The paramedics arrives and take Mrs Dumphreys away, and Bernice is absolutely shocked at what’s happened.
But of course, Bern’s sister Nicola isn’t quite as sympathetic and she’s soon riffling round in the deceased’s belongings to try and see what they can get out of it.
Coming across the betting slip that had the winning horse on, will Nicola really rip off a dead woman?

While we’d expect it of Nicola, we thought Bernice had more morals than that!
Schemes like this never go well in Soapland, and if we were Bernice, we’d leave well enough alone.
But when has Nicola ever allowed that to happen?
