After years of struggling to make ends meet, it looks like luck could be changing for the Taylor family when one of them unexpectedly comes into some cash. But is all as it seems?
With the help of chess sidekick Bernadette, Ted Murray has been following a trail of hidden letters left by his late wife, Joyce.
But he’s in for a massive shock next week when the final letter contains something completely unexpected – a ticket to Australia.

Ted’s taken aback by Joyce’s gift from beyond the grave and struggles to come to terms with the fact he has been left such a life-changing present.
But with Bernie by his side he realises this is an amazing opportunity and starts to plan his trip to the other side of the world.
But before Ted goes, he decides to make some last-minute plans for his friends.
First he sets up a tab behind the bar at The Vic for Patrick and the Taylors, feeling better in the knowledge that his friends can still enjoy a drink on him, even when he’s not there.
He then gives Bernie a wad of cash, telling her that he insists that she keeps the money.
But while he is excitedly preparing for his trip to Oz, Ted is hiding a huge secret from his friends. He’s been having chest pains and clearly isn’t a well man.
After Sonia notices that he isn’t right and takes him to hospital, Ted lies that he’s been given the all clear.
But when he gets home he secretly stashes away some medication for Angina – why is he keeping the news about his ill-health to himself?
And why is Ted giving away all his money before he goes abroad? Is there something more to his trip than he’s letting on?

With all that cash burning a hole in her pocket, it remains to be seen how Bernie is going to spend her money.
Is this the start of a new life for the Taylors, or will the money end up causing more arguments than it’s worth?
EastEnders airs Monday and Friday at 8pm and Tuesday and Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One.
