EastEnders fans turn on Phil Mitchell for placing Dennis in mortal danger

Gang attacks boy left alone in The Arches

| Updated:

Viewers lashed out at Phil Mitchell after the EastEnders hard-man inadvertently placed Dennis Rickman at the mercy of a vengeful gang.

He left his stepson alone in The Arches on last night’s episode after a heartfelt talk about how good his mum Sharon was to him, while teaching the lad how to repair her jewellery box.

But unbeknown to the pair, the gang who Denny has become caught up with was waiting around the corner for their chance to pounce and exact revenge.

Earlier, the boy had taunted them, knowing they couldn’t touch him because he was with Phil.

And it looks like Dennis will be made to pay dearly for his ill-advised moment of bravado as the instalment ended with Stix pushing his head down onto the workbench as the group cut off his exit route from the garage.

Sharon’s son was screaming as the gang member told him: “If it ain’t the boy who mugs me off. You’re dead, kid.”

Fans took to Twitter to share their dismay at Phil’s carelessness and branded him an “idiot”.

One wrote: “I can’t believe Phil would leave Denny alone after everything that happened in the Arches recently, that’s ridiculous.”

Another posted: “You idiot Phil, left Denny to get beat up.”

A third added: “Yeah great idea to leave Dennis to lock up Phil…”

In tonight’s episode, Sharon goes looking for Denny, only to find The Arches empty.

Are Dennis’s days numbered? Or will someone come to the rescue in the nick of time?

* EastEnders continues at 8pm tonight on BBC1.
