Josh – who brutally attacked David Platt earlier this year – has been in hospital after a savage beating which left him blind.

Vicar Billy has blamed himself for Josh’s attack as he told the person who beat him up that Josh was a rapist.

The man – called Ethan – then found date rape drugs on Josh and beat him to a pulp.

Billy has been trying to help Josh adjust to being blind, feeling the weight of responsibility but he’s horrified when Josh arrives at his door.

He tells him that he’s been discharged from hospital and has nowhere to go.

While Billy is horrified, an unsuspecting Sean welcomes Josh into the flat and even suggests he could be boyfriend material for Emma.

Billy tells Sean that he doesn’t really think Josh is a suitable match for her, clearly feeling uncomfortable.

Later Alya hears from Sean that Josh is at Billy’s flat and heads round to confront him.

Billy realises that now Alya knows, he needs to go round and tell David before he hears it from her.

But he doesn’t make it in time and David is devastated to hear from Alya that Josh is back on the Street.

David rails at Billy for taking Josh in as he tries to explain that he feels responsible for what happened, but David is having none of it.

Billy braces himself to tell Josh he has to leave.

Meanwhile, Josh actor Ryan Clayton has hinted at a horror exit for his controversial character.

The actor plays the evil rapist in the ITV soap and has confirmed that his time on the cobbles is coming to an end.

Viewers have watched as Josh drugged and raped David Platt in in distressing scenes earlier this year.

With David struggling to cope with the trauma, Josh seemingly got away with his sick crime.

However David managed to open up to his family and friends and Josh was driven from Weatherfield.

Unfortunately he soon after began his old tricks but Billy Mayhew managed to warm his next victim before anything could happen.

The man discovered Josh with a date rape drug and viciously attacked him.

Viewers were thrilled at Josh being beaten up and even happier when it was revealed he had been blinded by the attack.

But now it has been revealed that Josh’s ultimate horrifying exit is just around the corner.

Ryan told Inside Soap: “When you’re a villain, the clock is always ticking.

“Josh will always consider himself the victim and protest his innocence – he won’t accept that he actually did what he did to David.

“He definitely deserves justice and I know that viewers are interested to know how this will happen.

“Perhaps his punishment has already begun, with the blindness he has suffered after being attacked – but there’s still a long way to go.”
