Jane Danson on how Dancing On Ice will impact her Corrie role

The actress reveals she will be scaling back her soap duties

Coronation Street’s Jane Danson is the latest celebrity to be confirmed for Dancing On Ice – but she’s reassured soap fans she’s not planning to turn her back on Leanne.

Although she’s signed up to compete in the ITV skating show, Jane insists she will NOT be leaving Weatherfield behind.

However, the training schedule for Dancing On Ice WILL have an impact on her schedule, and she’ll be scaling back her scenes after the upcoming explosive stunt week.

After weeks of speculation, Jane appeared on Loose Women today (Thursday 4 October) to confirm she’ll be taking part on DOI alongside 11 other celebs.

She said: “Well she’s not going to go too far, I’ll still be there just not as much as I usually will be.

“I’ll have a quieter patch in the story, and next week there’s a big week for Leanne so the way the story’s going she will have a quieter bit.”

Jane added: “I’ve had to keep it under my hat for quite some time and we’ll start in the next few days.”

Asked about the gruelling schedule and chance of injury, she said: “When you take on something like this you have to accept there are risks, but I’m trying not to think about not being damaged.”

She added: “I’m getting loads of tips from Samia and Brooke and Anthony and Andrew’s done it before.”

Jane was the ninth celebrity to be confirmed for the upcoming series of DOI, which starts in January 2018.

She won’t be the only soap actor as former EastEnders star Richard Blackwood is taking part, too, as well as Neighbours legend Mark Little.

Reality star Gemma Collins, singer Brian McFadden, dancer James Jordan, former X Factor star Saara Aalto, Loose Women panellist Saira Khan, cricketer Ryan Sidebottom and Pussycat Doll Melody Thornton are also confirmed.
