ITV confirms two Coronation Street characters SURVIVE horror crash

Show bosses have announced storyline will lead to at least one death

| Updated:

Michelle Connor and Ali Neeson will cheat death and survive a devastating car crash in Coronation Street later this week.

ITV confirmed the two soap characters will NOT be killed off in the horror smash as drug dealer Ronan Truman takes murderous revenge following his son’s fatal overdose.

And it seems both the manageress of The Bistro and her biological son will emerge from the incident without significant injuries after sneak peeks of next week’s episodes were posted online.

Ali, Michelle and her son Ryan will all be caught up in this Friday’s car chase – with the deadly fallout already confirmed to result in several serious casualties.

Corrie bosses said in a statement last week: “The Connors find themselves embroiled in a terrifying car chase which leaves one person dead, two fighting for their lives, and a secret that will overshadow the family for years to come.”

But in a new snap shared on the soap’s Instagram account earlier today, Dr Ali looks to be in fine physical shape – if nervous – as he is quizzed by DS MacKinnon.

And in an another image and further details released on the ITV website, Michelle is also clearly not fighting for her life.

“Later, Michelle returns home to find Ali with his bags packed. What’s he planning?” the caption reads on a preview pic of the two characters having an animated discussion in the street.

Ryan, however, is not mentioned – and neither is he shown, in any condition.

And neither is the fate of terrifying Ronan, whose savage attempt to plough through the Connors’ stationary car is set to have repercussions in Weatherfield for weeks to come.

Kym Marsh, who plays Michelle, indicated this week’s scenes were only the beginning for the intense storyline.

“There’s more tragedy, more trauma,” she told The Mirror.

She also revealed she drew on her own experiences as a mum during filming.

“I think as a mother you can’t help but have that instinct where you want to protect. Michelle obviously just wants to look after Ryan, but Ali as well.

“She realises it’s her job to protect the boys. I totally got it because I would be absolutely the same.”
