Corrie fans call out major plotholes as homeless Sean Tully is beaten

Did you spot them?

Coronation Street fans can be a heartless bunch… Well some of them, anyway!

After watching homeless Sean Tully get beaten up in last night’s episode (Wednesday 1 August), it would be natural to feel some sympathy for the veteran Weatherfield resident.

But instead, several fans couldn’t help noticing what they thought to be several major inconsistencies in the plot.

While the ITV soap has been applauded for attempting to tackle the worrying issue of homelessness, it has been accused of not being realistic enough.

Poor Sean has fallen on hard times of late – he was kicked out of his home and has no money to find somewhere else to live.

Now homeless, skint and too proud to ask for help, he’s living in a small tent on the Red Rec. So how does he always look so immaculate, Corrie fans have been asking?

Sean still visits the cobbles regularly and always manages to scrub up nicely – with no one noticing anything irregular.

In fact, during last night’s episode, Sean’s shirt looked perfectly ironed as he pulled pints behind the bar at the Rover’s Return.

Fans have also noticed that his hair is still super short and he’s well groomed.

While some have even wondered how he’s affording to buy wet wipes to clean himself…

One viewer said: “Sean is living in a tent on the Red Rec, yet has perfectly ironed clothes, hair isn’t out of place, and he’s got clear clean skin…”

Another asked: “Sean may be homeless but he’s had a haircut. I wonder if he smells?”

A third said: “He should be scruffy looking and unshaven we should be shown how he manages to keep himself and clothes clean and why doesn’t he STINK. This ain’t homelessness he should be going to day centres getting help food to eat etc very lazy research work here I’m sorry.”

Another incredulous viewer couldn’t believe Sean would “wave cash around” when money was so tight.

Fans watched uncomfortable scenes this week as Sean was beaten up and had his wages robbed by two thugs.

He was found slumped outside a public toilet by his new friend Carol, who rushed him to A&E.

While there, Sean swallowed his pride and admitted to the doctors that he’s homeless.
