EastEnders baffled over Stuart Highway blunder

The twisted menace made an unwelcome re-appearance in Walford...

| Updated:

EastEnders’ most sinister villain has returned to Walford to continue his persecution of the Carter family.

Last night (Thursday 27 September), the bald baddie walked into the Queen Vic to make a veiled threat towards Linda and her family.

Meanwhile, innocent Mick Carter is in jail being terrorised by one of Stuart’s thug friends behind bars.

Stuart and his daughter Zara arrived at the pub to the horror of Linda, who is struggling to keep up appearances with her husband locked up.

After being let out of hospital having recovered from his gunshot wound, the psychotic fantasist decided to try and make a deal to get the Carters onside.

Errrr, no they really hate you Stuart! After all, YOU are responsible for Mick being wrongfully imprisoned!

Addressing a shocked Linda, he said: “I can’t tell the courts that he didn’t do it, but I can tell them that he didn’t mean to.

“That it was all one big horrible mess, that spur of the moment thing. He’ll do his time and then one day in time we can all put this behind us once and for all.”

W.H.A.T?

Clearly relishing having power over the Carter women, he continued: “So here’s the deal, I’ll tell the police that Mick did it, but didn’t mean to, and in that way your Ritchie will get it put down to attempted manslaughter.”

But fans were puzzled by the proposal, because there is no such thing as attempted manslaughter.

You cannot accidentally attempt to kill someone – so was this a blunder by scriptwriters or a deliberate ploy by Stuart to mess with their heads?

One fan turned to Twitter to comment: “There’s no crime such as attempted manslaughter. Get it right @bbceastenders #eastenders.”

While another commented: “Attempted manslaughter? How does that work then? #EastEnders.”

A third remarked: “Oh can’t wait to hear Ritchie’s advice on trying to get a reduction to ‘attempted manslaughter’ #eastenders.”

So was Stuart just messing?

Meanwhile, in the nick, Mick was targeted once again by Stuart’s criminal pal Fraser who gave the pub landlord a shocking second demand.

After the drugs bust on Bob failed, Fraser gave Mick another ultimatum – to pour boiling water over Bob and put him in hospital, or they will come for him instead.

Will Mick go through with it?
