Peter Barlow and Leanne Battersby are left at loggerheads next week when Simon Barlow reveals he is planning to leave Coronation Street and join the Navy.

Despite the fact Simon is still at school, the young lad shocks his parents when he reveals he’s decided what he would like his future job to be, and that it would mean leaving Weatherfield.

Despite the fact they are usually on the same page when it comes to parenting Simon, Peter and Leanne are set to find themselves at war when they can’t agree on Simon’s career choice.

Unsurprisingly Peter is full of support for his son, thinking this future career decision could be the making of Simon.

Long-term Corrie fans will know that Peter also joined the Navy after leaving school, before returning to Weatherfield in 2000 after leaving his military life behind.

But Leanne, Simon’s adoptive mum, is understandably worried about her son, clashing with her former husband over what is best for Simon in the coming years.

A source told Entertainment Daily: “The character is too young to join the Navy, he’s is not even in his final year of high school.
