Corrie SPOILER: Sally Metcalfe arrested tonight!

Weatherfield mayor framed for fraud

| Updated:

Sally Metcalfe’s world comes crashing down tonight (August 13) when she’s arrested for fraud and money laundering.

And it gets even worse for the town mayor, all thanks to none other than her beloved Tim who’s lied to her about a mysterious £1,000 that’s appeared in their bank account.

He told her it was a bonus from Streetcars but the apparently lucky windfall was actually deposited by conman Duncan Radfield in a plot to frame Sally.

And it doesn’t look good as the police are convinced the incriminating money proves she’s in on the scam.

The wheels start to come off for poor Sal when officers arrive to take her into custody while she’s dressed as a clown at the fundraiser she’s organised for Jack Webster.

Sally was recently hoodwinked by sly Duncan into handing over £40,000 of council funds after he claimed his wife had died of a stroke and he wanted to set up a charity in her memory.

Having been taken in by his fake sob story, she hurried the money through so he could buy some equipment, before Duncan disappeared and cleared out his account.

He has since been arrested but told police that Sally was in cahoots with him.

And the £1,000 Tim believed to be a bank mistake has left in her hot water and feeling furious that her husband has inadvertently made a bad situation even worse.

Realising what he’s done, Sally gives him both barrels, leaving her hubby feeling mortified and guilt-stricken.

Later this week, they decide to stake out Duncan’s house to demand answers, but it doesn’t exactly go to plan.

Fans hoping for a swift, happy end to the saga will be in for a disappointment as future scenes reveal Sally is put on trial for fraud.

Oh Tim, what have you done?!

* Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV
