Corrie SPOILER: Gemma gets a “blast from the past” over Christmas

Fans could see a different side to the loud-mouthed Weatherfield resident...

Coronation Street fans might well see a different side to Gemma Winter over the festive period when a “blast from the past” turns up in Weatherfield.

Actress Dolly-Rose Campbell, who has played brash, loud and colourful Gemma for nearly four years, has hinted that her character is in for a very eventful Christmas…

After recently winning the Inside Soap Award for Funniest Female, she’s now told the magazine that the ITV soap will be exhibiting a different side to Gemma over the holiday season.

She said: “There’s lots of different stuff happening over Christmas. A bit of a blast from the past, which is quite revealing.

“It might show us a few different elements of Gemma’s character, and explain some things about why she’s like she is. There’s plenty to come!”

Gemma is most famous perhaps for her relationship with old flame Henry Newton, who recently returned to the cobbles to declare his undying love for her by offering to buy her the Rovers Return.

Despite their hopes of turning it into a cocktail bar, their plan fell through and Johnny Connor became the new landlord.

Her love life is as colourful as her wardrobe, so could it be another ex who arrives in Weatherfield in time to kiss her under the mistletoe?

If so, Chesney won’t be happy as he has developed feelings for his friend over the past few months.

Or could it be family? Fans know little about Gemma’s upbringing, but we know she has a brother.

Gemma was only supposed to be in the soap for six episodes, but soap fans loved her bubbly personality so much, she is still there more than three years later.

She originally arrived on the cobbles as Kylie Platt’s best friend.
