Corrie stars Sally Carman and Joe Duttine find love off-screen

They enjoyed ‘secret dates’

| Updated:

Corrie stars Sally Carman and Joe Duttine have fallen in love in real life, it has been revealed.

The pair were recently pictured holding hands after going public with their romance at the ITV soap’s summer party, which took place at Manchester’s Victoria Warehouse on Friday (3 August).

According to The Sun, the couple – who play Abi Franklin and Tim Metcalfe – are now officially dating after months of ‘secrets dates’.

Joe and Sally are said to have hit it off while filming the long-running ITV series.

An insider told the newspaper: “Both Joe and Sally had been single for a while and just met at the right time in their lives.

“Sally thinks Joe is a funny and caring guy and he’s really fallen for her, too.

“They’ve now told their castmates and everyone thinks it’s a match made in heaven.”

In fact, the actors have worked together before, as both of them starred on C4’s huge hit Shameless.

Sally starred as Kelly Maguire from 2005 to 2013, crossing paths with Joe – who portrayed Maxine’s dad Cameron Donnelly – in 2010.

Joe joined Corrie in 2013, while Sally joined the soap last year as troubled mum Abi.

On screen, Abi’s love life is a bit of a shambles… In fact, her whole life is.

She is currently trying to rebuild her relationship with her children, after they were taken away from her.

And, just this week, she made a pass at Steve McDonald, despite the fact he is engaged to her friend Tracy Barlow!

Meanwhile, Joe’s character Tim is much more settled and is happily married to town mayor Sally.

But even that is about to be thrown into jeopardy as the couple are about to be hit by shock affair claims.

Just recently, Nicola Thorp – who played Pat Phelan’s daughter Nicola – confirmed her relationship with Charlie De Melo, aka lawyer Imran Habeeb, with a very public declaration of love on social media.

There must be something in the air!
