Kym Marsh has revealed the Coronation Street cast are terrified of being axed.

The actress plays Michelle Connor in the ITV soap that has just been taken over by former Emmerdale producer Iain MacLeod.

According to the Daily Star Sunday she said: “Everyone has that feeling when a new boss comes in. You’ve got no idea what’s going happen.

“There’s always a bit of you that thinks ‘ooh, what’s going to happen?’

“And every time a new producer comes in they like to put their spin on the show and do things their way.”

The producer has already made plans to kill off Nigel Havers’ conman character Lewis Archer.

Kym revealed the cast were shocked by the death, saying: “I didn’t know about the death at all.

“They don’t tell anybody these things. But whatever happens next year, we’re all very excited about it. I’m sure we’ll all embrace it.”

On-screen Kym’s character Michelle has been going through hell after discovering her son Ali Neeson murdered drug dealer Ronan to save the family.

She promised more “drama” for the Connor family, and admitted she was glad the show is in rude health.

She added: “The great thing is that Corrie is in good shape at the moment.

“We’re winning awards left, right and centre and that’s a reflection of the hard work that everyone is putting into the show.”

Kym has made no secret of the fact she loves working on Coronation Street and plans to stay as long as bosses will have her.

She first joined the show in 2006 as a pub singer, but was quickly established on the cobbles with her family joining her to take over Underworld.
