Coronation Street’s Jack P. Shepherd ‘signs massive new pay deal’

The actor is now being paid close to what legends Bill Roache and Barbara Knox are paid

According to the Sunday Mirror, Jack has received a £30,000 pay rise.

His new contract will be worth £250,000 after he is said to have impressed bosses with his performance over the last year in David’s hard-hitting storylines which included him being drugged and raped.

A source told the newspaper: “Jack is going nowhere for the next year and the executives are very happy.

“He’s part of the show’s DNA now and is classed as almost a veteran because he’s been in Corrie since he was a kid.

“His handling of the recent rape storyline has been moving and very well received by the audience. And his new deal is richly deserved.

“The bosses are aware that stars are keen to maximise their earnings and his new deal reflects their desire to keep top talent in the show.”

The deal is said to put him near the top level with the likes of Bill Roache and Barbara Knox.

It will see him remain with the soap for the 20th anniversary since he joined the show in 1999.

Fans will be able to breathe a sigh of relief after it came just weeks after Jack hinted he could be leaving the show for good.

The actor teased last month: “Ultimately in soaps I think if it does change the character then you must see what you want from the character.

“Do you want David Platt to change and, if so why?

“If he does change, does he eventually have to leave?”
