This Morning fans raging as guest reveals she dyes her dog PINK

Her appearance sparked an animal cruelty debate between viewers

Laura Schakosky, from Texas, appeared on Tuesday’s This Morning to show off her adorable Yorkshire terrier Jewell.

But her beloved pooch isn’t like other dogs. Laura revealed she dyes Jewell bright PINK.

Laura bizarrely spends $4000 dollars a year to have Jewell’s fur dyed a fluorescent pink along with other luxuries.

Laura spoke to hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford live from the States while a sleepy Jewell sat in her owner’s lap wearing a grey dress and a bow in her fur.

And Jewell is so pampered she has her very own nanny while Laura is “away on shoots” and has monthly trips to the salon.

Speaking to the hosts Laura said: “I dyed her pink about a year and a half ago. I was online looking for cool outfits for her and all of a sudden I started seeing these pictures popping up of these different dogs in all these different colours.

“So I went to my groomer and he said ‘absolutely we do it all the time’.

“At first it is really shocking but then it starts to grow on you.”

Ruth asked Laura: “Is this cruel? Are there any dangers to her using this dye?”

Laura replied: “Before I started dying Jewell I went to the vet and asked them.

“They looked it all up for me and the whole thing has been approved specifically for dogs.

“It’s like a vegetable dye so it’s no different to using any other vegetable juice.

“The doctor said that dogs actually feel shamed more if they’re shaved.”

Laura then held up her canine pal giving fans a better look at Jewell’s unique look and her “fabulous” dress.

Speaking about how the dye works Laura explained: “When they first get it done the colour is really bright and then as the month goes on they start to fade and look more ombre.”

Eamonn asked Laura if she was planning to dye Jewell any other colours to which Laura said: “I don’t think so because I really love the pink.

“I thought about purple.”

Defending her choice to dye Jewell makeup artist Laura said: “It’s just something fun to do and artistic.”

But viewers weren’t so impressed and expressed their outrage on Twitter.

One said: “That’s going too far, that dog is a living animal not a toy. Looks stupid #thismorning.”

“I don’t even have any words for this story other than that poor dog #ThisMorning,” another tweeted.

A third ranted: “Arrest her for abuse! The dog had no say on this and it looks so miserable. Abuse! @thismorning #ThisMorning.”

A fourth added: “#ThisMorning dying a dog pink is wrong, surely that’s animal abuse?!”

One user agreed: “#thismorning Might not be hurting the animal but it’s still wrong. The dog doesn’t have a choice, get a grip of yourself!”
